Burnout

Burnout is the expression of a long-term imbalance between stress and recovery. The holistic psychosomatic treatment at the Max Grundig Klinik targets precisely where body and mind have fallen out of balance. Our multimodal therapy concept combines various scientifically grounded psychotherapeutic approaches for an individualised treatment of stress-related chronic exhaustion, in close collaboration with colleagues from Internal Medicine and supported by our state-of-the-art Radiology.

What to Expect

Every therapy is individually tailored to you—specifically addressing your symptoms and needs. The course of treatment and the therapy plan are coordinated with you and adjusted as necessary. The therapy goals established in advance serve as our guiding framework. Overall, the treatment unfolds in a series of distinct steps that build logically upon one another.

The therapeutic process begins even before you are admitted to our facility in person. Once you have made the decision to commence inpatient treatment, you will typically reach out to us to initiate the process.

Planning Your Stay for Burnout

Our patient management team will inform you about the organisational framework, after which a consultation with one of our specialist physicians or psychotherapists will take place. This preliminary discussion serves as an initial introduction, professional consultation and an assessment of the indication for inpatient treatment with us.
Subsequently, the further organisational steps will be clarified with you through our patient management team. Before you begin inpatient treatment, you will have the opportunity to provide us with important information as well as any existing medical reports in advance via a questionnaire sent to you.

Inpatient Admission

At the beginning of your inpatient stay, a therapeutic and an internal medicine admission consultation will take place. The information you provided in the questionnaire and your previous medical records will be incorporated here. On the basis of comprehensive diagnostic measures (recording of medical history, psychological testing, further examinations) as well as the definition of therapy goals, an individually tailored weekly therapy plan will be drawn up together with you. You will be actively involved in the therapy process from the very beginning.

End of Therapy and Return Home

In principle, the therapy for burnout and chronic exhaustion aims to restore your natural balance between stress and recovery, and to enable you to interpret future physical symptoms as valuable signals for your psychological wellbeing and resilience.
Towards the end of treatment, a form of individual relapse prevention takes place as well as concrete preparation for the post-inpatient phase. This also includes clarifying the possibility of continued outpatient treatment and making contact with your previous outpatient practitioner to ensure a smooth transition back into your everyday life.
