The Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Endocrinology, and Diabetology

The Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Endocrinology, and Diabetology serves as a central pillar of the Max Grundig Klinik. Our focus lies on the precise diagnosis, individualized treatment, and sustainable prevention of diseases affecting the entire gastrointestinal tract, as well as associated organs—specifically the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.

Based on patient-centered gastrointestinal diagnostics, we develop a tailored gastroenterological treatment plan specifically for you. Furthermore, thanks to our additional specialization in hepatology, we guarantee an in-depth, holistic analysis of liver-related complaints, as well as personalized care for all liver diseases.

In the fields of endocrinology and diabetology, we also combine state-of-the-art diagnostics with individualized therapy to treat hormonal and metabolic disorders in a targeted and sustainable manner.

Gastroenterology and Psychosomatics: When the Gut Reacts and Causes Remain Unclear

Recurrent abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel habits necessitate a clear medical explanation.

Gastroenterological and hepatological diagnostics reveal no inflammatory, infectious, or organic causes. Laboratory values and imaging are unremarkable. During the psychosomatic assessment, it becomes evident that stress, inner tension, and stressful life situations exacerbate the symptoms.

Together, we assess the physical findings and psychological factors. The symptoms meet the diagnostic criteria for irritable bowel syndrome, a functional bowel disorder characterised by an interaction between bowel function and psychological factors. The diagnosis provides a clear explanation for the symptoms and establishes a reliable basis for further treatment.

Gastroenterology & Cardiology: Working hand in hand to reach a diagnosis

The Gastroenterology Department at the Max Grundig Clinic works closely with the Cardiology Department, as many conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract are directly linked to cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, metabolic disorders or chronic inflammatory processes.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration, symptoms can be assessed holistically and personalised prevention and treatment plans developed – ranging from modern endoscopy to comprehensive internal medicine risk assessments.
